Solder lugs

A solder lug is a type of connector that allows a wire to be mounted on something that can’t support a solder connection on its own, like a screw. A solder lug usually takes the form of a washer with one or two little holes which a wire would be hooked into and soldered. The washer can be flat, but it might also be toothed like a lock washer.

The lock washer style of solder lug is usually designed to complete a ground connection. When the screw is tightened, the teeth of the washer bite into the chassis, ensuring that the two conductors are always firmly touching. A flat style of solder lug is often used for connections to speakers, batteries, or other terminals.
