140- and 720-series electronic pianos
The 140- and 720-series electronic pianos were a bridge between the early electronic piano models and the iconic 200/200A. The 140/720 addressed a lot of things about earlier EPs that made them difficult to play, and, in many ways, are almost as easy to play and maintain as a 200 or 200A. But they still have very cool midcentury styling.
The 720 is the cabinet version of the 140. It has the same mechanical design and the same amplifier, but it looks like a (very) small spinet piano.
Models in 140 and 720 series include:
140 (140A, 140B, 146…)
145 (145A, 145B…)
720 (720A, 720B, 726)
140145720Technical drawings for Wurlitzer models 140 series and 720 series
Wurlitzer 140-series and 720-series electronic pianos had sub models (140, 145, 720A…) which may be contained in this grouping of documents. All of the models shared parts, hence many technical part drawings were for multiple models in the series.
The below drawings include part numbers for shipping boxes and packing for the Wurlitzer 140 and similar models.

What about the bigger electronic piano drawings?
The document collection includes blueprints up to 48" x 36”, and many useful and interesting drawings are on the larger size. Right now, our scanner can handle pages up to 12” x 17”, but bigger drawings can be scanned in stages and then pieced together using Photoshop. It is a time-consuming process, so, for the sake of efficiency, we’ll be focusing on the smaller drawings first. But the Portacover is one of our favorite parts, and we wanted to share this drawing of it.
The Portacover is the lid that covers the keys, and we love it because the legs fit inside. It’s a really thoughtful detail that really helps if you’re transporting the keyboard. The legs actually screw into the oval pieces pictured in the drawing, and are held in place using the center strap. This allows the keyboard to be taken anywhere—in theory, by one person carrying it by the handle…but, in practice, by two people carrying either side. (It’s pretty heavy.)
Note the table at the bottom of the drawing, which includes part numbers for the various sub-assemblies and other parts comprising the Portacover.
