Cross-Reference Master
The Cross-Reference Master is a list of semiconductors found in organs, their manufacturer part numbers, and their generic equivalents, assembled with the assistance of the organ companies’ service departments.
New editions were released periodically, and we have several of them, although all are incomplete. (Rev 5/87, for instance, boasts of “784 Master Pages Which Contain 2,153,000 Byes of Information,” but we only have 201 pages.) The document is modular, with page numbers that restart for every organ brand and semiconductor type, so it is possible that these copies were always incomplete. It’s also possible that pages were lost after the warehouse changed hands. We found all of these papers on the floor of the warehouse, scattered around the office.
Note on the PDFs: To keep file sizes low, we have split copies into multiple PDFs, with one section per PDF. Each PDF contains the goldenrod intro pages, unless those intro pages are missing for that particular edition.
How to use the Cross-Reference Master: Transistors have model numbers (2N3055, BC108, TIP31, etc.), and, the more you work on electronics, the more models will become familiar to you. The transistors on organ circuit schematics have model numbers too, but not the generic 2N or BC-whatever model numbers that we know and love. Instead, the model numbers on organ schematics refer to the internal part numbers used by the company, and they’re only intelligible to people who work for the company or are otherwise familiar with that company’s naming conventions.
