Chord unit

Some Wurlitzer organs came with chord buttons. Sometimes, the chord buttons were an add-on to a full-featured organ, such as the 4150 (which had two manuals and thirteen bass pedals). In other cases, the chord buttons added tonal potential to entry-level models, such as the 4000 (which only had one manual and lacked bass pedals).

Models such as the 4100 and 4102 could optionally be fitted with chord buttons after purchase.

By the mid-1970s, Wurlitzer began to substitute physical chord buttons with circuitry such as Chord Magic. When a user played a chord, Chord Magic would identify the notes and automatically play an inversion of that chord.
