140 Series
The 140-series Wurlitzer electronic pianos were considered by many to be a step forward in keyboard feel (from the previous 120 models). The new action (which is almost identical to the 200 action) smoothed out the key action and added a small amount of weight by adding a jack spring, among other changes.
The 140 series also introduced vibrato and more state-of-the-art amplifiers. The solid state amplifier in the 140 was a very contemporary design, and that was further improved upon slightly in the 140B. The 145 contained a hi-fi tube amplifier using 7868 tubes and a compactron tube, a tube designed to compete with transistors.
Another design improvement was splitting the metal harp into two sections, bass and treble. By doing so the harp had added rigidity and gave the reeds more sustain throughout the keyboard.
